Found in my neighbor's back yard. The lesser known cousin of the Black Widow.
I took great care photographing this one, as their bite can be very severe and I did not feel like going to the hospital. :P

I wouldn't call them terribly deadly. People have died from Latrodectus bites, but it's not very common.
You may experience a lot of pain, muscle spasms, increased blood pressure. First aid should be sought and you may want to go to a hospital.
But, people tend to over exaggerate their lethality.
I don't like to kill spiders. They have a purpose, even the ones with significant bites.

Very few spiders could be classified as aggressive. Most only bite in self-defense and even then, they are more likely to flee over biting.
Most spider bites occur when a spider is pinched against skin such as if it were hiding in a glove and you put it on.
I have not encountered any truly aggressive spiders in the US.
Jumping Spiders can sometimes be mistaken for being aggressive due to their rather curious nature and amazing eyesight.
Some spiders have been seen as aggressive such as the Sydney Funnel-Web Spider, but most spiders really aren't concerned with attacking humans.
