The Prophet Maurizio is the paranoid figurehead of the Ecclesia Magnifica. Born from the union between a wolf and an ewe, Maurizio grew up often yearning after the unwavering confidence of his father and lupine family members, desperate to reject his perceived docile and flighty instincts as a ram. After a riding accident, Maurizio believed he had begun receiving visions from God and he began writing the Magnus Liber. This longwinded doctrine emphasized rejecting one's feral instincts in favor of embracing the reason and ambition that elevated people above their non-intelligent counterparts.
Despite Maurizio lacking confidence and any particularly social nature, his writings gained the interest of Saverio Lo Abate, who became one of the founding members of the Ecclesia Magnifica after he began preaching Maurizio's books within the city of Evoche. Quickly gaining followers of both those seeking power and believing in the visions of Maurizio, the Ecclesia Magnifica has taken hold within the region of Ilvarica and the countries beyond, calling for both the rejection of base instincts and the death of mythicals and mortals alike who refuse to worship the one true God and his chosen Prophet.I've wanted to flesh out my totally-not-christian cult for some time, but the new CRK character finally inspired me to sit down and make the totally sane, mentally well, not emotionally damaged at all head figure Maurizio! I wanted a character that had some negative effects of a predator/prey partnership as a sort of foil to Fenris and Miorjah. His father was far from a perfect lupine - abusive, brutal and cruel, while his mother was placating, submissive and did everything to appease her husband and comfort her son, especially after her son's injury. Maurizio started preaching his insanity with Saverio when he was 23 or so, and in modern day he's about 65-70ish, even more of a terrified, brutalized shut-in that he has ever been, and a puppet to cruel, self serving men just like his long dead father.
