Pokemon OCs - Odile and Giselle
Art by sketchygarden.bsky.social
In the field of performance, no two dancers are as lauded and celebrated as these two... friends? Rivals? It depends which you ask.
Giselle was always stoic, ever since her and her brother Gardebancho were Ralts. Despite not ever needing his help, he stubbornly stepped in to defend her when she was being teased. This led to a severely high level of times he was throttled to unconsciousness and had to have his sister drag him to a pokemon center to be healed. The frequent failures as a protector eventually led him to be more proactive: beating up anyone who even looked at either of them negatively. This lead to both a sudden boost in physical strength, and to him evolving into a pokemon unique to the Brohl region, Yankirlia. Giselle eventually evolved into the typical Kirlia, and the same dynamic continued until adulthood. As adults, her brother evolved into a Gardebancho (he kept that name because 'it sounds badass') and he pursued training as a coliseum fighter, while she became a Gardevoir.
She first began to pursue a career in dance as a Kirlia, though. But during her lessons, another Kirlia (and a shiny one at that) was constantly attempting to outdo her in practice and performance. Her name was Odile, and her drive to outdo her, let alone her constant prattling on about nonsense topics and continual stalking, was frustrating to Giselle to no end. This combined with the savant-levels of natural expressiveness left her with conflicted feelings, in the sense that she was unsure how derisive Odile was attempting to be toward her. Her feelings were amplified more so since her oaf of a brother not only didn't seem to notice how much Odile annoyed her, but he very clearly seemed to have a not-so-subtle crush on Odile as well.
On the other end of the situation, Odile has felt out of place herself since her youth, purely for her atypical appearance. Seeing an opportunity to maximize her feminine charms, she took dance lessons the moment she was of age, and she saw Giselle as "the ideal woman: talented, elegant and demure."
Unfortunately, Odile didn't notice that Giselle is more "insanely focused, intensely precise, and quietly bitter."
