This artwork features my tlk-sona,Sade. It showcases how Sade's birth pride may now see them after mistakingly believing she is a cub killer.
Small tragic backstory lore for Sade [former prince | she/they]:
On her way back from boarder patrol, the young prince heard distressed mewling. She dropped low and followed the sound to find a hyena dragging a brutalized cub towards the territory boarder. Fire roared in their chest as the prince lunged, sweeping the hyena off its' feet. The lioness threw blow after blow, catching a few stray tears across her face from the bone-crusher's gnashing teeth as it struggled to get out from under her. With one final heave, the hyena broke free of Sade's grasp and ran off into the night. Returning to the cub, Sade was devistated to find her body broken, legs unrecognisable and bleeding from her neck. They picked up the cub gently by her scruff and carried her back home in hopes there would be some measure to save her.
Emerging from the brush, the prince set down the cub at the edge of the clearing, she had long passed before making it back to the camp. Sade lifted their eyes to meet the horror-stricken gazes of the other lions in camp. A viscious snarl sounded from the center of camp as Sade's mother, the king of this pride charges forward to meet her delinquent daughter head on.
No chance to explain, no excuses, Sade well knew their pride judged on first impression alone. As other huntresses gathered around, the king delivered her judgement. Exile. Banishment from the pride. The claim to the throne gone in an instant. This was a very generous punishment for such a crime, but to return would mean kill on sight for her former brothers and sisters. She allowed herself to be driven out.
All Sade had prepared for during their life was to take over as king and lead the pride. Bitterness bit ravenously at their torn heart. Pain would eventually turn into resentment. Resentment would mould Sade to become cold. She would have a pride of her own. Even if she had to make one herself or take one by force. But with these walls now built in the young lion's chest, allowing trust and creating new relations would be challenging. Any lion who chose to get close to them will have to endure bad additudes, selfishness, and if lucky enough... extreme codependency once the trust is made.
