Been a hot minute since I touched my Talespin reboot.
I wanted to try my hand at cooking up a comic page in CSP and frankly I don't think I did too shabby. A friend on Discord suggested I add a moon to the second panel to help the plane stand out better and I'm glad I listened - it really ties the whole piece together.
Anyway, this page depicts a scene from a dream sequence from my version of the episode "From Here to Machinery", where Baloo loses to an automated pilot (in this reboot a plane with embedded AI since unmanned vehicles were a thing in the 90s). In my version, poor Papa Bear would dream about everyone close to him (Rebecca and Molly, Kit, Bagheera, etc.) leaving him, only to stumble across his plane all alone on the dock. At first, he hugs his dear Sea Duck, only for it to start moving on its own, guided by AI, and leave him despite his best efforts to keep up, pleading it to stay...
And then wake up screaming after the dream ends with him getting run over by an automated plane Christine-style cuz I'm twisted like that. 😈
Though now that I think about it more seriously, a remake of this episode would definitely resonate in this day and age given how prevalent AI has become.
Social commentary aside, I got another idea for a scene in the reboot I'd like to make a comic page out of, one involving Rebecca and Baloo's first interaction, so keep an eye out for that.
Talespin belongs to Disney. I just own the idea of this reboot.
