Just an idea I had for a character a while back.
A living plushy that was sewn together from a damaged teddy bear and some various cloth scraps to patch him up.
Todd was looking around the local thrift store for some little decoration for his coffee table when he spotted the little guy slumped in a corner next to the trash bin on his way to the dumpster. A battered, worn out Teddy-bear. Seeing that at the very least he'd have a little project for the weekend Todd gave the lady at the counter a couple of dollars and took the little bear into his bag and left.
He stopped by the fabric store on his way home and bought some scraps to patch the little one up with. As well as a little jacket to hid any ugly stitch work on his part, and a big blue button to replace the missing eye.
Once home he gave the bear a washing, and a good drying to make sure there weren't any bugs in it.
Getting a bit of new stuffing to replace the old while he was at it, but he found a little metal heart amongst the old fluff. Thinking it was odd, he figured he'd put it back in the bear before sewing it up.
He worked all afternoon trying to reinforce the stitching, making a new arm from some of the new cloth he had.
They were out of brown fluffy fabric at the store so he had to make due with white, and a bit of black, trimming it to length to match the brown of the bear.
Todd: "Now then, what to call you?" He said talking to himself. "Oh yeah, your little heart."
He then took it and placed it in the chest before sewing it shut and putting the little coat on him. "Hmm, perhaps Buttons?"
He sat the little guy on the couch and leaned back to rest. Little did he know this little bear would be a new friend.
