Here is a torch table I have carved from a chunk of pumice with a stonemason's hammer and some coarse aggregate concrete.

The purpose of this little thing is to allow me to heat things up with my gasoline blowtorch. The flame's heat goes to waste if it's going into the air, but if a refractory of some sort is behind the piece being heated, it'll get hot much quicker.
