One of the sacoglossan emissaries thats joined up with ZakuraTech as part of a cultural exchange (and lucrative research agreement). Cleo has taken to the surface world and scale with allured ambitions and curious enthrall.
Encountered previously in the 70s colonizing sub-surface coral reef and kelp-forests, the regional sacoglossans nudibranch anthros were considered too small and too primitive to attempt communication with. Resigned to the glossaries of biology text books for half a century; until ZakuraTech rediscovered them while assessing the area for a testbed in sea-water mining (for dissolved rare metals).
After sending a group of reduced scale set of researchers to make contact, it was discovered that a number of conceptions about the sacoglossans reef dwellers were grossly misinformed. They were not nomadic kelp eaters (though they did cultivate both seaweed and microalgae), nor were they primitive; they were fairly adept at metallurgy, ceramics and domestication and had used that to develop a bustling, if tiny, society. One which is eager to establish itself among surface and larger peers.
Although ZakuraTech no longer is their sole contact with the outside world, owing to open source translations and external outreach, ZT currently maintains a research group amoung them and has received a number of interested individuals as part of a cultural and research exchange project. ZT's primary interest is in their novel ceramics and bioculture, while they are interested in ZT's microscale-infrastructure and SIZ tech.
Historical precedent aside, Cleo is one of the first sacoglossans to migrate to the surface, in particular ZakuraTechs research campus. She is also one of the few to undergo resizing and Mixed Magnitude Training; a fact that makes her insufferably smug during the rare visits home.
Personality wise Cleo is cocky and sure of herself. She considers herself a trailblazer and she is not wrong. She has accomplished many firsts and her simply getting to meet people on their own scale is fact enough of this.
Despite her forward facing confidence, Cleo is actually quite wowed by the newer, much larger world into which she has been thrust. She is keen to learn as much about it as she can (maybe a lil too keen at times) and how to apply that awareness to her home society (and vice versa).
Cleos specialty is aquaculture and her assistance has been put toward ZT's explorations into growing aquatic plants for water-mining and coastal remediation; something she also has a vested interest in succeeding.
Cleos suit is a mixture of repurposed SIZ-Tech and some of the sacoglossans own Total Immersion Membrane [TIM] technology, used for them to better tolerate different hydrostatic pressures. Functioning as a reversed diving suit, it is full of water and helps maintain Cleo's breathability in low-moisture. She can exist outside of it (it took alot of acclimating) in humid environments, but struggles in low humidity, low pressure. The exosekeletal nature of the suit makes it a literal safe space, with extended lifting capacity and instrumentation. It can run off either electrical or glyco-batteries, like most sacoglossan tech. It also helps that TIM has pockets.
Other funfacts; the kuroshimae clade to which Cleo belongs can engage in kleptoplasty with their food (algae and plants) and steal chloroplasts to photosynthesize their own sugars, although these deplete over time. When fully 'stocked' Cleo can actually output more oxygen than she takes in.
