This happened last night. It amazes me how often people honestly think this isn't a big deal and not, y'know, illegal.
Before anyone starts bitching allow me to explain.
An ID is also called "Proof of Age", its exactly that. I am not allowed to take your word for it. Maybe she was getting cigarettes for her adult friend who just happened to lose his ID or maybe they were really for her kid brother. What if either one isn't the case and she's actually a secret shopper too?
Mind you if you try explaining this to one of them its like talking to a wall...
... with swear words spraypainted all over it.

Well, I hate losing my job. |3 I also can't stand when it really DOES turn out that they were for her younger brother/sister/friend/et al.

I wasn't suggesting you didn't follow it. Just that it's grossly unfair on a lot of people (retail staff included) and often reactionary. ¦3
