While Leslie Kennedy does have a military background of sorts - fighting in the civil war which plagued her native Sorados Cluster - she didn't have many chances to hold on to any physical mementos of that time. Since joining the ranks of the Stellar Typhoon, however, she's developed an interest in collecting war memorabilia, and it's a rare shore leave where she doesn't bring back something of interest from a government surplus stand. Awards and decorations are a particular favourite, and Leslie's got loads of them mounted and hung up around her cabin. Visitors often make the mistake of asking about some particular medal or other - Leslie is only too happy to not only answer your question, but also tell you about the rest of her collection!

In this instance, it's Taiho Mori who's the unlucky bugger, but even if everything seems to be going in one ear and out the other, he's sure to remember one important lesson: if you must ask Leslie about her medals, do so at your own risk - and for god's sake, ask for the abridged six o'clock news headlines version!

The medals, incidentally, are a random selection of those which could be awarded to members of Britain's armed forces during the past couple of centuries. I didn't keep a note of which ones I used, and the only one I can identify offhand is that which Leslie's actually holding - the South Atlantic Medal, awarded to military personnel and civilians who served in the Falklands War.
