Great way to revisit an overdone design. The tail in a ""scythe"" (sorry i'm french, can't find the right word for that tool) shape is a great idea. An orange/yellow palette was a risky bet, also, knowing Anubis tend to be represented as more dark and serious. But there regardless of that it's both coherent and interesting ! Great job. I love the way you worked the shading on this. If i could make a suggestion, i would really like to see how, with the same method, you could work on a sort of "arabian night" scenery. I had a classic thing in mind ; something like a characther behind a wall under a starry sky in a merchant alley, waiting for his prey to steal his/her purse or worse .... LIFE !. AHHH, it's inspiring !! x))
Please tell me you're going to open comissions soon xP

that's an interesting idea! initially i was going to draw a scene similar to the one you described but my expertise doesn't lie in the area of backgrounds ):
thank you for your interest. as of now i'm undecided wether i will open them or not. :P i'll probably post a journal about it though!

he he thanks ^^ Well, i think that wether you have a big experience or not with the background that you make ; it has to go with your style. I often saw landscape artist doing great scenery with grass, moutnain and breath taking sky but uneable to sketch any living thing. It can happen when it's the contrary and you are only drawing characters (notice i said YOU ARE ONLY DRAWING CHARA (from what've seen), someone of your inspiration and style MUST know how to make backgrounds ^^). Why do i say that ?? Because, unlike landscaper, often based on realism, as someone who design character or creature, you surely have grown and worked your style. Whatever how much time it make since you started drawing ...
What really count, IMHO, is that you make/draw/imagine a landscape, decors or item that are always fidel to the style you draw your characters in. You tend to have some kind of cartoon imprint. Then, what's more normal if the chair or the pyramid you imagine tend to be more expressive by its size or design than by its actual resemblence with a photo or the real deal ??
I'm sorry, my french dosen't allow me to express myself to the full extent of what i could say in my mother language, but long story short : I am just dreaming of see you trying, and i am sure you can do whatever you want to. I can't draw, for instance, but because i haven't found my style yet. I fell like you just need to let it wild x))
And ... well, keep me a slot, pretty please, i'd really like to be one o' your very first customers ! I'd be honored harr harr harr !!. I don't exactly know your parcours and experience, of course, but comissions if, always IMHO, worth the try ! Personally it's where i often share and get closer to the artists, then understand what they think and why. I think it's a really great medium to get both inspirations, encouragement, experiences and even some friend in the way, of course~
