It's really sad to know that the Baiji are now 'functionally extinct'. Rather were declared that in 1996... and the last one seen was 1997... They thought they saw one in 2004 but it wasn't confirmed... they stopped looking... It was my favorite child-hood animal. Especially the pink ones... the young ones... The last one seen was white, old... not able to even have babies... They didn't see anything but the back of it. Not even the fluke. This is beautiful, and these very special creatures deserve to thrive, but instead are destroyed. Many believe if the Baiji were protected and lived around here instead of China, they'd still be alive today.
