Dad was laid to rest next Saturday over 30 years ago. Took his .22rf revolver to the club's outdoor range to bang steel. Pop used to take Mom to the nearby coal mine slack pile to practice. That slack pile is almost history, but not this 9-shot Hi-Standard R-100 Sentinel. Had to oil it up, but it shoots well.

I too lost my dad in 1995, November 20th to be exact. Life since then for me has seen some pretty dark and challenging times. I've never owned a gun nor ever fired one. I've always been fortunate to live in areas where firearms were never needed. If I were ever robbed, assaulted, car-jacked, etc., I would consider carrying one.
Nice old High Standard. Bit of advice from someone who has hung out with a couple of gunsmiths. Don't ever try to take it apart - the lock work. Impossible to put back together - High Standard used special tools/jigs for that. I have an Old Model Ruger Single Six that was my late brother's. He passed in 1980, he got the gun in 1973 if my memory is correct. I still call it his revolver though it has been mine for almost 45 years now.
