Woofie (Winnie the Pooh OC)
A wolf in Hundred Acre? Oh me, oh my!But hold, gentle reader, for there's more to knowOf this traveler who fell out of the skyWith tales of distant lands from sand to snowSo set your fears at ease and stop on byTo meet the wolf napping by river's flow🍯🍯🍯Who Is Woofie?
Woofie stands out among the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood for many, many reasons.
Be it his height (he's a head taller than Pooh, just so you know), his monumental strength that lets him lift boulders, or his grandstanding, the wolf knows how to make himself the center of attention...for better or for worse.
In fact, if you were to ask the other residents - Rabbit in particular - they'd quickly point out Woofie's penchant for cooking up all sorts of tall tales, be they stories of his adventures around the world or some fanciful excuse to avoid work. And oh does this wolf like to avoid work. If you ever need to hunt him down for something important, your best chances are to look either by the river where he can be found napping or (increasingly often) at Pooh's house.
As a matter of fact, everyone's found it easier nowadays to just seek out Pooh Bear because wherever the silly bear is, Woofie is never far, usually helping Pooh out with collecting honey to rather surprising lengths such as hopping from branch to branch with the bear in his arms. Honestly, it's the most hardworking anyone's ever seen the wolf and its utterly baffling to those used to his laziness.
Then again, it could just be as simple as Woofie's lackadaisical nature meshing well with Pooh's simple and passive approach to life since his usual lack of urgency married with his gentle patience and general easygoing demeanor make Woofie easily one of the more approachable residents. Despite not being anywhere near as energetic as Tigger, the wolf can be quite jolly, rarely ever seen with a frown, yet another reason for his magnetism.
But what truly cements the others' trust in the wolf is his sense of loyalty and bravery as Woofie will not hesitate to come to his friends' aid, no matter what dangers lie ahead. The wolf is rather selfless in this regard because in spite of his laziness, Woofie wants those around him to enjoy life freely and without fear like he does.
His little Honey Bear in particular.
Where Is Woofie From?
To be frank...nobody knows. Woofie himself seems to, but goes silent and distant whenever anyone asks. In fact, that's the one of the few surefire ways to sadden him, so everyone's agreed to just never bring it up. Besides, it's not as though he doesn't already have plenty of stories to share from his globetrotting. That said, Owl has a private theory that the truth might have something to do with why Woofie sometimes sits on that one starry hill, staring up at the moon.
What Does Woofie Like To Do?
Napping and flowers.
He will take any chance possible to just lay down in a field of flowers and doze the day away. He's even convinced some of the others (namely Pooh) to join him sometimes.
Don't mistake him, though. He has a few hobbies to keep himself active. When the mood strikes him, Woofie enjoys traipsing about the woods and acting out one of his previous adventures. Why, sometimes he'll even play-pretend made up adventures of his own, much to little Roo's delight. Woofie's stumbled across many a hidden spot in Hundred Acre that way.
Woofie's also quite the cook. Ask him for whatever dish comes to mind and most likely he'll have heard of it - and if not, you betcha he'll do his darnedest to learn how to make it. Rabbit's more than happy to lend some of his produce whenever Woofie needs some since he gets to see the wolf hard at work (a rare sight indeed).
But nothing gets Woofie's spirits soaring more than singing. No matter what he might be doing - exploring, napping, cloud watching, even in his own sleep - you can hear him humming a merry little tune. Why, the residents have come to look forward to hearing the wolf's deep silky voice, especially when Woofie lets out his inner showman at gatherings or celebrations.
And yes, he has the moves to boot, too. Just ask Pooh Bear.
Who Voices Woofie?
Woofie's soft and bouncy warm baritone came to us in 1966 courtesy of Phil Harris, who would go on to voice Baloo in "The Jungle Book" about a year later, as well as lend his voice talents to other segments that would go on to feature in "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" in 1977. He would continue to voice Woofie until a few years before his death in 1995.
Ed Gilbert would take over for a short time until some years before his own death in 1999. Since 1997, Joel McCrary has voiced Woofie in all his appearances, including Kingdom Hearts.
