I was nine years old, when I first had issues with depression. For anybody who may be wondering why Ajabu is so young here, that is the reason. I am keeping this story true to my own experience.
For those who wish to stick with their own interpretations, I will hide the meaning behind spoiler text. You can hold onto that interpretation until this comic series is completed and see if it matches up with what happens later. If you do so, I would be curious to hear what you think about this, in the comments.
For everyone who wants to know: It all begins with an open mind. One that is malleable to different ways of thinking. Most of childhood is easy going - it's all fun and games. Once negative thoughts begin to take route, new neural pathways are formed. At first, they're almost imperceptable, allowing one to still live a relatively normal life.
