Shoes off. Go to room. Door shut. Close the curtains. Any watchers? No? Good. Hoodie down. Glasses tossed. Remove face mask. Bye, hazmat suit. Socks? Gone. Paws are free. Dry myself. PJs on. Spread wings. Hop on bed. Let out sigh. I am safe. I'm okay. And, at last, home.
Oh, Dash, pigiamore mia. As if being introverted and neurodivergent weren't enough, you have to hide in that awful, hot hazmat suit to conceal what and who you are from ordinary people. No wonder you crave just going straight to your room, your little scuderia, to do the things you want, whether it's assembling Legos, doodling non-existent cars, (day)dreaming about becoming an automotive designer in faraway Bel Paese, or just lounging in your comfy pajamas all day. But you, like all of us living in a world that makes zero sense, deserve at least a small space where you can be happy and true to yourself—a quirky, hopelessly introverted deeragon teen. Enjoy your rest; you earned it.
Here's picture Number 17, which continues my 2025 trend of commissioning more cartoony versions of my OC, Dash. This time, the artist was AAR0NJAY—or Jay as I address him. His talent, whether it was his "regular" artwork or his plushes, and the fact that he's an expert on perfectly recapturing the art style of Disney's Zootopia franchise, made him an ideal candidate for a commission. So, in April 2025, I contacted him to, hopefully, take one of the last remaining commission slots for July of that year.
And folks, let me tell you: aside from a certain individual I worked with a couple of times already, Jay turned out to be the most caring, attentive, and professional artist I've ever met. From start to finish, I felt that my Dash was in good hands. Why?
- Jay explained all the details—especially pricing differences between his background styles—before I made my commission official, which helped me determine what I wanted in the first place
- He confirmed the thoroughness of my commission request, so when my time came, he only needed a 'yes' or 'no' whether I still wanted to proceed
- He perfectly recreated the scene that served as the basis for this drawing, but didn't hesitate to change things when I suggested some modifications
- In fact, he made several WIPs, whether or not I explicitly requested it, in all drawing phases without asking for extra, which allowed us to make my new Dash picture perfect, even down to the most insignificant details
- He sent me three versions of the drawing, and also accepted one of my title suggestions
- And, to top it all, he published the drawing on the (sort of) 5th birthday of my Dash plush, even including all the necessary details about Dash that make her my beloved oddball
Words cannot describe how much I love this version of Dash, and how satisfied I'm with Jay's work. In fact, my actions will do the talking: at the time of re-uploading this commission to my socials, I've already applied for a spot on his 2026 commission list.
