What's the extra handle on the hammer for?

There is a wire/lock cutter on top. Pulling the extra handle closes the claws to cut.

Intriguing! I love the design and I love the idea of that kind of use - Though might I suggest, rather than a long secondary handle for the other side of the bolt cutters; you could create a knuckle guard of some kind (Say far down the shaft, for the rearmost hand), of which the guard itself is then a lever that would connect to a cable running through the centre of the primary shaft of the hammer?

I don't wanna insult you by suggesting corrections - it does just seem like you might accidentally clip your own knuckles if you slam the hammer down and that boltcutter handle then bashes backwards!

You do have a point - And i was indeed going to revisit the hammer since there are some design bits i want to improve.
