is the highest tribute to the gods.
In a world as volatile and hostile, unforgiving and selfish, it's expected that a freshly summoned peon to those beyond comprehension would require at least a few visits at Death's door before any meaningful progress would be made. Even if the pain may be real, from the smallest prick to world- eradicating explosions, a sense of both numbness and clarity would begin to blossom. Every death, either at the hands of oneself or to the world they would once exist in- or the denizens of such- was reconstructing the land anew, a blank slate awaiting a proper inscription... yet knowledge- knowledge persists. Even beyond the veil. As time goes on, perception sharpens, failures dwindle, and horizons expand. It is all watching, waiting. Yet ripe for the taking.
Knowledge through pain. Wisdom through sacrifice.
You possess the potential- and eventually the knowhow- of twisting the narrative, exploiting the expectations of the world itself and taking all the boons it has to offer for yourself, from a lowly peasant to a force of nature that rivals those above. Of course, even at one's strongest, there are still sources that exist to keep even the greatest aspirers in their place. Despite this, it still serves as yet another small obstacle that one can overcome. For you see, it is an inevitability.
