"It goes against the spirit of the game." Essentially, the goal is higher than anyone riding zebras can block, so once the ball is thrown, it usually has an unimpeded path into the goal. Then it can be caught and taken to the other goal to score the next point. Being able to aim and either throw or, in the case of the zebras, kick the ball into the ring is considered a skill among Piga-Paka players.
That Murphy can block the goal (there are no goal-tenders in this game) by putting her paw in front of it and catching the ball, and then make a point (or two as it's being thrown in by a zebra) as easily as just dropping the ball into the hoop goes against the challenging nature of the game.
