Welp, here I go, from not having a clue what Monster Hunter is my whole life, to buying world during summer sales of 2025 and getting interested in it and then not being able to resist an urge to make an OC based on one of their creature designs.
Of all the beasts there nergigante is the one that I truly fell in love with. It has an amazing colour scheme, fun fight and abilities, not to mention its role in the ecosystem. The idea of a dragon that has no element on its own, but cancels that of others thanks to its inherent "elderseal" effect and then proceeding to maul them through sheer brutality, augmented with fast regeneration and aggressive attitude is just perfection in my eyes.
However, what is mine "Wolverine dragon" specifically?
I drew Victrix in anthro form, as I prefer this kind of characters, but its not going to be strictly anthro character, it's just the one I will use to play around with more. In quadraped version that fits more into MH lore, he is a nergigante that was captured as a hatchling and given the name that symbolises a victory of the guild in having a perfect test subject in researching how elder dragons function. There are far more details I plan to it, but it will be told at different time, just know he broke out and was involed in massive controversy over "how much research is too far?"
As for personality Victrix is a bit grim, but also has great distance to himself, his humour is crude and if he can, he will brute force through a problem. It's hard to push him over the edge, he knows how much damage he can cause so he restrains himself, but not because he hates going from 0% to 100%, he loves adrenaline, he just knows it's often not pragmatic, but if someone truly wants to push him, he will make sure to give it all; "Are you really sure you want this? I mean REALLY sure? Oh~ here we go then!"
For the design; I was thinking about how to make him unique. I wanted to keep orange-purple colour scheme, but to make him stand out I had to employ something else than different palette, and as such I decided to give him those flame-like markings on chest and large feature scales going from shoulders to hips in straight line through the torso, marks on the face and a snapped horn that regrew in a weird way. Nope that's not a battle scar, he snapped it while accidentally hitting the doorway and will unapologetically admit it, even if reluctantly, and face markings are weird birth marks. Everyone keeps making up stories about these scars that get more ridiculous as time goes on.
That is pretty much it, I reused that pose I have my main OC in, but I really like it so whatever, don't ask about the hands, I was practicing drawing them and they took way longer than they should qwq
