Finally got around to making concept art for Arelu, the main protagonist of the science fiction stories I plan to tell who travels around aboard the living starship Melissa. The typical story arc I have in mind is as follows; Arelu and Melissa arrive on a planet, Arelu does some tasks in exchange for supplies, Arelu learns about the locals and leaves a positive impact on them before she and Melissa depart.

Arelu's physical design was inspired by both typical greys and the Kaminoans from Star Wars. While I had intended my short subject 'The Flower' to feature her I was not ready to introduce her to readers. Here I've worked in her 'flower petal like eyes' and 'pinkish purple almost lilac skin' which I did through a retired crayon color 'Magenta Pizzazz'. Her 'ears and nostrils' are a little harder- located behind her jaw bones both face backwards. Her people are from an aquatic world and thus is why they are structures in that way- including the multi-pupiled eyes.

I plan to do a few concept sketches of her face, thinking to illustrate imagined scenes eventually.
