At the Xoda Island weather station, Milkyway keeps an eye on the weather radar and other monitors and is about to get some coffee.

The Weather Station's Radar can scan weather upto 400 miles away, and is designed to give a fair amount of warning of any potentially dangerous storms or bad weather.

Should the weather be severe enough and on a collision course with the island, emergency plans are put into action, the causeway road (which is high risk) is gated closed, the ferry terminal is shut down to the mainland and if power goes out the community center has back up power supply but can also act as shelter for residents.

From October to mid-March the island experiences a lot of storms, featuring heavy rain, sleet, hail and snow as well as a lot of wind, usually gale force.
