I really want to start depicting Emmet's actual repair shop—not his lab, which we've seen a number of times.
But to do so, Emmet needs customers.
Meet Maurice, a bighorn sheep and frequent visitor to Burrow Prime. He runs a farm a short distance away from the Burrow. He may in fact be the wombat's "next door neighbor" but Emmet doesn't go outside often enough to really know who his neighbors are.
Maurice is a bit of a klutz (it's his clumsy hooves). He's always breaking his tools, which means he always needs them fixed.
He's also extremely easily upsold. The "enhancements" Emmet tacks on to his repair orders result in him causing yet more damage to his property and the cycle continues. Maurice blames himself for not carefully reading the instructions Emmet prints out for him (while charging him for the paper and the ink).
Of course, Maurice is not made of money. These days he's been moved to a "payment plan" where he'll have a few bucks knocked off his bill in exchange for lending use of himself to Emmet's experiments. He doesn't even realize that he's slowly changing into a badger.
Actually, he's been blacking out quite a bit lately. You know who might have the answer to that? Old Man Emmet. He knows how to fix everything.
Sully... does not care for Maurice, which is odd for him. Sully makes an effort to be friendly to all the customers and, where possible, protect them from his boss's proclivities. But even Sully has to admit that some people are such easy marks that there's really no helping them. If it wasn't Emmet taking advantage of him it'd be somebody else. Best to keep him on a short tether.
As long as he doesn't have to make chitchat with him. That weird badger face gives Sully the heebie-jeebies.
