Here, with Hero Forge, I depicted Poseidon, the Olympian god of the sea, as a muscular, anthropomorphic hippocampus (mythological seahorse).
Mythology (as I know it)
Poseidon was born the son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. However, he was devoured by Cronus along with his siblings Hestia, Hera, Demeter, and Hades because he could not be overthrown by his own offspring.
But Rhea had brought little Zeus to safety, while Poseidon and the other siblings had to spend their childhood and youth in their father's entrails.
But when Zeus grew to manhood, he freed his siblings by giving his father an emetic.
The siblings set out to fight the Titans, the Titanomachy, which lasted about ten years.
After defeating Cronus, who was dismembered and banished to Tartarus, their territories were divided. Poseidon became the ruler of the seas, while Zeus ruled the skies and Hades the underworld.
Poseidon was often described as capricious, as the sea could be.
His wife was Amphitrite, with whom he fathered a son, Triton.
However, Poseidon had all sorts of love affairs with nymphs and even mortal women, producing many children.
While Amphitrite reacted jealously to her husband's affairs, she was not as vengeful as Hera (sister and wife of Zeus).
* Athena and Poseidon fought for control of Attica. Athena won by planting the first olive tree, while Poseidon created a saltwater spring. The city was named after Athena: Athens. Much to Poseidon's chagrin.
* Once, Poseidon seduced the beautiful Medusa, a priestess of Athena, and performed the act of lust in Athena's temple, which was an insult to Athena. Athena transformed Medusa into a terrible creature with snakes instead of hair, and every mortal being who looked at her turned to stone. (According to Ovid, Poseidon had raped Medusa, and since Athena could not punish Poseidon, she punished Medusa by transforming her.) When Perseus beheaded Medusa, the winged horse Pegasus (ridden by Bellerophon) and the (giant) warrior Chrysaor (who became the father of the three-bodied giant Geryon) were born from her blood.
* Once, Poseidon lustfully stalked his sister Demeter (incest is not uncommon among the gods) as she wandered mournfully searching for her daughter Persephone, who had been abducted by Hades. To escape the harassment, she transformed herself into a mare and mingled with the herd of Oncius, a mythical king in the Arcadian Onceum. Poseidon then transformed himself into a stallion and mated with her. The fruit of this union was the immortal stallion Areion (Arion) and Despoina, who became a snow goddess and wife of the wind god Boreas.
* Poseidon is considered the divine father of Theseus, who was also the son of Aegeus, King of Athens (of course, it's biologically impossible for someone to have two fathers, but this is the world of myths, fairy tales, and legends). Theseus was primarily known as the one who defeated the Minotaur.
* The Cyclops Polyphemus was a son of Poseidon. Polyphemus was primarily known as the Cyclops who was blinded by Odysseus and his crew.
* Poseidon was once the lover of Theophane, who was being harassed by suitors. To protect her from their stalkers, he transformed her into a sheep. Poseidon himself transformed into a ram and mated with her. From this union, the golden flying ram Chrysomallus was born, who carried Phrixus to Colchis (while Phrixus's sister Helle fell to her death during the flight). Phrixus arrived in Colchis, where the ram commanded him to sacrifice it to Ares. His precious fur, the Golden Fleece, was hung in Ares's grove and stolen by the Argonaut Jason.
* In Rick Riordan's universe, Percy Jackson is a son of Poseidon.
