To prevent a crisis, Shinespark tries to stop gaining weight. If only he knew what kind of story he was in!

When Captain Shinespark woke up eight hours later, he realized two things. One, his belly had grown another foot. Two, he was hugging it.
The bunny giggled as he got out of bed, his cheeks bright red. What once seemed like a curse had turned into a blessing. He caressed every part of his gut that he could reach as he made his way to the replicator room.
As soon as he arrived, Shinespark started eating, and eating, and eating. He had a black hole for a stomach, and he was taking full advantage of it. If the rabbit wasn't gorging himself, he was showing his appreciation for his ever-growing belly. In-between bites, he'd rub, hug, squish, slap, or jiggle the orb of flab. His tummy pudge was incredibly receptive to touch - every interaction filled his mind with joy. Those wonderful feelings only seemed to get better as he grew, encouraging him to continue his feast.
Fifteen hours passed before Shinespark ran out of energy and retired to his dorm. This time, he couldn't stop his now 13-foot wide sphere of a belly from knocking over a few pieces of furniture. Another eight-hour nap and an additional foot of tum later, he was back in the replicator room. Before he started ordering food, an idea popped into the bun's head. Why was he manually eating everything? He could just automate the process of filling himself up!
A few minutes later, Shinespark had a rubber tube attached to the top of the replicator's crystallization lens. He'd programmed the machine to create a nonstop flow of calorie-heavy milkshakes. The cold liquid would flow through the tube and exit through the other end, which he'd already secured in his mouth. Chomping on the rubber in anticipation, the bunny turned on the replicator.
His plan worked like a dream, and the results felt like one, too. The hose gave him free rein to explore his gargantuan gut, which was fattening twice as fast as before, in any way he wanted.
With a bit of effort, Shinespark managed to climb on top of his ball belly. Because of how squishy it was, he sunk quite a bit into its mass. He flopped down onto it, face first, and started performing snow angel motions. The giddiest grin anyone could ever see was plastered on his face. This was paradise.
He spent 7 hours enjoying himself and his growth before disaster struck.

<Captain Shinespark, I have urgent news to report,> Cal said.
The AI's words failed to register in Shinespark's mind. He was in too much of a blissful haze to pay attention.
<Captain Shinespark, please respond.>
Again, no answer.
<Cutting power to replicator.>
The lack of liquified ice cream flowing into the bunny's stomach snapped him out of his trance. He removed the hose from his mouth. "Shoot! S-sorry, Cal, I got caught up in, uh… all this," Shinespark explained, gesturing towards his now 20-foot wide table smasher with a blush.
<Captain Shinespark, the hydrogen levels of the UFSA Further Pastures are running low. You have been using the ship's supply faster than I can replenish it.>
The rabbit's eyes went wide. UFSA starships stored raw hydrogen for fuel, because it could be used to generate energy via nuclear fusion. This energy powered the entire ship - the engine, the onboard AI, the replicator, the life support systems…
Usually, running out of hydrogen wasn't an issue. Starships could passively extract hydrogen from space debris, and there had been plenty of it, even in the Outer Cosmos. But Shinespark, in his hedonism, had managed to cripple his ship's fuel supply by overusing the replicator.
"Crud, crud, crud, crud, CRUD!" The bun started panicking, tossing aside the hose he'd been drinking out of just a minute earlier. He climbed down his mountain of a tum, rushed out of the replicator room, and headed to the bridge. His beastly belly trailed behind him, still attached to his midsection by what could only be described as cartoon physics.
Once Shinespark and his gut were both inside the bridge, he yelled out, "Cal! Lock the doors! Do not let me leave this room, no matter how much I beg you to, until hydrogen is back to 100%!"
<Understood. Locking doors.>
Clicks could be heard from the doorways on both sides of the room. The captain was now stuck inside the command center of his own ship.
It didn't take long for the bun's stomach to start complaining. "M-mmnngh… so hungry…" Shinespark whined. The lack of food was now giving him intense hunger pangs. "Nngh… Want to… eat… Want… to grow… Mmph… Have… to resist…" Rubbing his belly still felt good, but didn't relieve the torment from his insides.
After half an hour, he couldn't take it anymore. Like a child throwing a tantrum, he flailed his arms while screaming, "AaaaaAAAAAAAHHH!! I NEED FOOOOOOD!"
The hunger pangs stopped as Shinespark felt his insides shake for a moment. It was the same sensation that struck his belly the day before - the one that heralded more changes from the strange energy that got him into this mess.
The rabbit's stomach began to fill with an unknown liquid. He noticed this, and his tantrum tapered off. Like everything else that entered the bottomless pit, the liquid was instantly digested. Unlike all the food he'd eaten, the mystery fluid added fat to his belly so fast that it could be seen in real-time. Shinespark couldn't help but put his paws all over his growing gut again as it visibly swelled, adding a foot to its diameter every minute.
After five minutes, the bunny's insides vibrated again, and the liquid stopped flowing. His hunger failed to return, although he still felt capable of consuming an infinite amount of food if he wanted to.
"Is… Is that it?" Shinespark pondered, his arms draped over his now 25-foot tall belly. "Is it all over? Is this energy done wreaking havoc on my body? Can I finally focus on Operation Far Bigger World with a clear head?"
<Captain Shinespark, we are approaching Alpha Centauri,> Cal reported, breaking the silence.
Shinespark breathed a sigh of relief. Alpha Centauri was the star system closest to the Sun. Finally, he could get some tangible data to bring back to-
<I am also detecting two life signatures within the system. Neither of them match any known living species. Prepare to engage first contact protocols.>
