Whistly was doing his job on the dual gauge track to DaiPonGy. But he and Futashi spotted a small narrow gauge train ahead and stopped. When they stopped, they found that the small train had derailed (if you look closely, the two driving wheels of the small engine were off the rails inside the main track), and Futashi decided to run over to help the small engine's driver.
