The day was quickly fading, and on the horizon the rumble of thunder could be heard as a storm was slowly stalking the mountain peaks that stood so mournfully amidst the fog of their secluded haven. It seemed whatever lived in such isolation had already hidden itself away in preparation for the onslaught of nature, save for one lone figure that still insisted on battling the growing winds.
It could not be said what the dove was doing in the mountains. They were not made to combat the unpredictable wind currents of the higher elevations, but whatever the reason, the bird was there. It was possible it would have perished once the storm hit, dashed upon the rocks like a stray weed in the sea as the winds increased into a gale.
Yet it was not alone. A shadow descended upon it, and despite the heaving winds it found itself flying in a sphere of tranquility, shadowed by the beast of the mountains whose magic kept the great gales at bay. A show of kindness from a beast that was believed to represent desctruction and death to that which was the very symbol of peace.
An image I did for my English teacher a while ago. She, like me, enjoys fantasy, and she ws overjoyed to receive a hard-copied print of this =3
I actually loosely based the dragon colouration off a magpie. My teacher only specified she wanted a black and white dragon with black being the main colour, and I had put the dove in, so I figured it would be neat to sort of have the dragon resemble a constrasting bird.
