Depends on the person really. Big softies usually either have some way of letting them out or "reforming" them like a respawn in a videogame. Some have them actually die though yes. With Ranger... not really sure but friendly as he is I somehow doubt it.

Depends on your take on it and how "serious" you take it.

Personally I've got a cartoony, unrealistic take on it. Pretty much whatever happens is just episodical, and everything is just back to normal later in my eyes.

Good god, there is NEVER enough eastern dragon stuff. :V They share the same trait with snakes that I love so much. They're basically long, fleshy slides.
