Aside from learning the power of friendship, Henry's journey through the mammalverse just might get him to quit smoking.

Dinosaurs use tobacco for the same reasons mammals do. It settles their nerves, keeps them awake, helps them think in a tight spot. It can be smoked or chewed, enjoyed on one's own or in the company of friends.

It's also similarly addictive, and just as bad for their health when overindulged in.

But what dinosaurs think of as "tobacco" comes from a genus of plant unknown to mammal science. When the K-Pg impactor failed to arrive, the world went on to contain different plants as well as animals and Nicotiana never evolved. The crop that dinosaurs cultivate is genetically similar (it's still a member of Solanaceae which did exist in the Cretaceous) and it has comparable effects, but it's not the same.

Henry realized this when he tried smoking mammal cigarettes. They'll do in a pinch but there's something unsatisfying about them that's hard to describe. Plus they're @#$% expensive! Given that money is so hard to come by, he'd rather go without than smoke that trash.
