| You Are Overencumbered and Cannot Run or Fast Travel
In the deep deserts of black sand and eternal sky, you've got to haul away as much as you can from any find you find, for they will never come again. That's become a major part of Hardscabble's 'job', acting as a living packmule on the way back from many finds. In the eldritch sands, you've got to take what you can, or else you'll find it's gone. The whole vast, impossible desert beneath that starry sky is a place of... inconsistency. Distances don't match, even when the sun shines the stars are out, mirages can be real, and navigation comes more by instinct & gift than by reliable technology & charts.
Alas, for poor Hardscrabble, shi tends to get it coming and going. Going in, shi's commonly hauling massive amounts of supplies to try and help hir crew get as deep into the deserts as possible; slowly quaking hir way across the soft sands pressing around and through hir wide-spread pawbs. Coming back, and it's even worse as the massive haul is slowly heaped up onto hir back until every step is a strain as hir shaking legs take each stressed step. But it's worth it. It's helping hir to pay off hir many, many bills. Shi's building a reputation to help fuel some chance of getting off of this Ghost World and to somewhere more... civilized.
The sands call to hir, and shi does not like it. Shi sees those eyes on the horizon, that causality blue. People say shi's seeing things, but shi can't help but get the feeling that something or someone is calling to hir. Shi still can't remember how shi wound up in that perilous place, lost of hir past and memory and existence. Ghost Worlds are always perilous places, especially one shone upon by the still breathing sun and the iron star which glints so close in the skies. Strangeness, hazards, things dredged up from places and time beyond... It's fine. Shi's fine. Shi is gonna pay hir way and get out of here, just wait and see. Yeah... Yeah...
this pack is so heavy... if shi stops, shi might sink into the sands
This piece was done for me by the lovely Bitters the Otter as part of her opening up comms for various reasons. She's currently doing in-stream sketches and more, as can be found here, and would be happy to take you as well for relatively cheap (for her quality!) I've been looking to get some more of a very muscle-taur, and thought that this would be a lovely thing to expand the lore as well as show hir getting very bothered. Don't worry, shi won't (insert vaporeon squooshing meme)... oh, I guess shi did. Shi'll be fine.
