This is Damen. This is a Blue Line train to O’Hare.
The first stop in our journey is in Chicago. With us today not only is a good proto friend of ours, but a CTA 7000 Series train.
The Chicago “L” Subway network serves the Greater Chicago and Cook County region of Illinois, consisting of 8 lines that cover 102.8 mi (165.4 km) of track, making it the 4th largest rapid transit system in the United States. Opening in 1892, it’s also the oldest system in the country.
With us here is a 7000 Series, built by CRRC Sifang America at their Chicago Plant, the 7000 Series entered service in 2021, and although planned to operate on the Blue, Brown, and Orange lines, currently operate solely on the Blue Line.
I had the idea to start this series back in June, as a small project to work on over the summer, but given the fact that I also started in June and it’s August, it’s probably gonna take a while for the next installment.
That said, I’m committed to continuing this because I deeply love trains and this is the perfect excuse to dump my knowledge on y’all.
This installment features a good buddy of mine from Chicago there in the cab, and I’ll squeeze in other friends of mine where possible in later installments.
Next stop is Boston, doors open on the right at Boston.
