It's a shame about that great big leaf, but when you're hiding behind a very prickly bramble bush it's not easy to move to a better location. =:P Anyway, here are a couple of likely-looking characters from quite close to where I live. They're not quite as cute now as when you get all the kittens in the spring, but they're not far off!
It's a while since I've been able to rabbiteer properly in this field, as it's had horses in for months -- the rabbits don't mind, but the horses tend to come up to me and say hello. I confess to being a bit nervous around horses, and in any case I can't concentrate on the camera then, so I've mostly avoided the field this year. I may go back now, though!
As this is in the UK, these are of course European Rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, which are highly gregarious creatures, unlike some other rabbit species.

Yeah, it was slightly odd lighting -- an overcast, muggy evening; if it had been a few degrees warmer I'd have said a thunderstorm might be on the way. The light was pretty poor (again!) but the colours aren't far off despite my only having a tiny camera with me. Now you come to mention it, there is a little tinge of purple in some of the local bunnies' fur.
Oh, they knew I was there all right. As long as I don't, as the saying goes, make any sudden movements the rabbits here generally accept my presence. I suppose it's like any other sort of wildlife encounter; once you get to behaving in the "right" way instinctively, you can get closer without scaring them off. For me that means visiting rabbits, which I love being able to do. =:)

Yay, rabbits! I'm glad you're able to get back into the field again, and I hope you do have a chance to get back there again at least once more before the summer is over. These two are rather handsome examples of the species, too, if you ask me. Maybe not as cute as when they're young, but they're still adorable.
They're nice fellows, certainly, but then I suppose both of us are somewhat biased when it comes to rabbits! (And who wouldn't be?) Thanks; I'm pretty hopeful of making it back there again, as it's not a difficult place for me to reach; the weather's been the main spoiler this year.
