Here is an interesting beetle that I have come across in my area and I couldn't resist taking a picture and playing with it for a few minutes.

It has these cute large puppy dog eyes and little fuzzy legs and paws and an adorable face.

I was able to take a picture of it right as the wings unfolded outwards before it attempted to take off (and clumsily fall down).v
This was totally by accident and I was going for a much better view of its face and body.

Unfortunately all that cutesy demeanor subsided the moment I referred to my book and found out what it was.

This beetle has the most unfortunate name Necrophila americana. Now, that's not the same as "Necrophilia" which is related to having sex with corpses (sickos), this beetle just revolves its life around corpses and eating maggots while letting its own larvae eat corpses.

This beetle is also known as a "carrion beetle" which is a better name.

It's still kind of cute.
