A quick drawing I did of my Pathfinder character Ashkavr!
Also did use this drawing to experiment with gradient maps a bit.
Little backstory stuffs:
Ashkavr didn’t always despise magic the way they do now, in fact they used to admire it, obsess over it, and would teach it to themselves as much as they could.
One day their dream came true, a wizard not far from the town they lived agreed to take them as an apprentice and teach them the magic they couldn’t learn by themselves. However, the wizard had other plans. He made Ashkavr believe that in order to reach the next stage of magical skill, they had to “sacrifice their worldly attachments, by any means necessary ” so their focus was only on their magic, to the wizard this meant Ashkavr’s own family and friends. And Ashkavr did just that, cut ties with the people they loved, and if their loved ones insisted on keeping the ties, Ashkavr would do something more drastic. They would do anything to follow their dream.
The sacrifice however, was not needed to learn magic, this was just a way for the wizard to make sure no-one got in his way of his true intentions, no-one would go looking for Ashkavr if they one day went missing. The wizard needed a test subject for his magical experiments, but of course no-one was willing, until Ashkavr came to him, with their blind obsession toward magic.
The wizard's experiments caused Ashkavr’s body to warp and deform, with the arms and legs permanently fusing to their body in a crying position.
In the end, whatever the wizard was researching came to nothing, so he ended the project, discarded the subject, and abandoned the lab and set it ablaze as he left to erase any evidence of what transpired in the building.
Ashkavr escaped the building, escaped the fire, now completely changed, not only physically but mentally as well, the love for magic had warped into disdain, as they witnessed first hand what kind of horrors magic can be used for. They started to believe that any person who uses magic, even minimally, has the possibility to use those powers for the same evil that warped them.
However, Askavr still uses the magic they have learned, despite their weariness and hatred for it, as it is the only remaining connection they have to their previous life, before they were betrayed, and is the only thing that gives them a sense of familiarity.
Now, Ashkavr’s aim is to find that wizard and take revenge, to show him the very evil that they fear and make him feel the very pain he inflicted.
