You would open up a Visual Equalizer (EQ) for the instrument and lower the Bass which should be on the left side of the equalizer.
If you were to lower the bass in the whole song it would stop the distortion but it would also take away the subtle lower pitched sounds instruments naturally make and lower the over quality.
