You reply to Charlie’s question.
“Thank you for asking, Charlie. I’m called Taro, and I’m a librarian.”
Charlie looks surprised. “Oh. I wasn’t expecting that.” He scratches the back of his ears. “You’re not one of those boring librarians with a stick up your ass, are you? I’ve only been to a library a couple times to fetch tomes for my master, and I wasn’t a fan.”
“It is, unfortunately, an important job and a big responsibility”, you reply. “Books are precious things and one has to make sure they’re properly handled, taken care of, and returned in time. In that sense, you could say I have a bit of a stick up my ass.”
Charlie sucks his teeth and looks embarrassed. “But I assure you”, you continue, with a wink, “while I take my job seriously, I am plenty of fun off the clock, and sticks are not the only thing I can fit in there”.
That gets a hearty laugh out of Charlie. “Alright, Taro, I can work with that! I’ll just keep in mind not to bother you during business hours, then.”
The bartender comes over and serves a second helping of roasted chicken for Charlie, an omelette for you, and two beer mugs. Charlie raises his mug and offers to toast.
“To sticks! And butts, of course!”
You clink your mugs. Charlie takes a big swig, and you take more measured sips. While the beer doesn’t taste amazing, it’s adequate.
“So, Charlie”, you ask, as he sinks his teeth into yet another chicken leg. “What brings you to this event? What are you interested in?”
Charlie swallows. “Wow, someone’s direct! Wasn’t expecting that from a librarian of all people. Tell you what, Taro, I’m gonna be direct too. I’m in this new form, I have different senses, you know? Everything feels different: food, clothes, textures, you name it. And I’m exploring all these sensations, having a good time… you know where I’m going with this, right?”
He leans forward and tries to lower his voice (and given that he’s on his third beer, not exactly succeeding). You look around, making sure none of the other tables are paying much attention to yours.
“Let me tell you, the sex stuff? Incredible. I’ve only played with myself so far but it’s... shit, the pleasure! It’s like, it extends to your whole body, your fur stands up and all that... I don’t know if it’s the same for you raccoon fellas but... Taro, my man, you have no idea, it’s so much better than human stuff...”
You blush, and so does he once he notices your reaction. Charlie leans back with a shy, sheepish smile. “Sorry for the raccoon thing, man. I hope that wasn’t insensitive. But, I’ll be honest, I’ve, uh... I’ve never been with other guys, but I’ve had the urge recently and... I wanna try it out. See how it feels. That’s what I want now. I don’t know if you’re maybe looking for something serious? You know, a serious partner to match a serious job, and all, ha ha! I’ll tell you upfront, I don’t know if I can give you that, but... if you're interested in fooling around with me and trying out crazy shit, I would really like that.”
