Tempest is a character that I integrated in a moment weakness for cool character designs, the idea was that she was meant to be a symbol of discipline and forgiveness in a much more lawless land than Equestria. I'm actually kinda happy with this layout for her.

Tempest does possess raw magic disruption, a common misconception made when engaging in mage duels is that her uncontrollable magic grants her this disruption, Ironically it's simply raw output of her magic that causes this phenomenon. It's fully under her control the extent but when inactive her body naturally disperses her excess magic into this ability in a thin veil around her for the most part. This causes a strange sensation in her fellow Equestrians.

Following her tragic accident and subsequent departure from her home town, she wandered through several other nations and found the less desirable elements of the world. Having worked in factories in Gryffalon and then all the way to being a body guard for some lowborn noble house in the crystal empire during it's less golden years. After the Storm king ran a Deathmarch through the remains of the then defunct crystal empire saw a spark in the young, (Clearly not crystal) Equine, making her his personal soldier involving expansion. In this universe the battle between the Storm king's units and the princess' ended in a total of 3 hours, Tempest making it all the way to royal chambers before being stopped by Luna and Twilight after managing to encase Cadence and Celestia and through their own inventive methods locked down her and 7 other survivors of her invasion Battalion. Through Twilight's constant meet ups and visits slowly chipped away at her, especially after being shown the Storm king's personal surrender and lack of interest in honoring a desperate promise she'd wanted fulfilled by him.

The items she holds fear are her displays of loyalty and reformed trust: The House Star symbol is a symbol of her induction in their house, only available to those of blood or marriage, gifted at the end of the ceremony by Twilight, her spouse; The Spike platoon badge is a symbol of Twilights elite platoon under the command of Spike the dragon, each member is someone that has survived several Dragonland trials and survived a similar journey to the Gauntlet of fire; The Wedding ring is... Well it says it on the tin, but does have the magic engraving infused by Twilight, "To my little pony, my best friend, I love you Tempy"

Tempest is meant to be a portrayal that no matter what you've done in life, you are worth loving
