Classic sausage Smashburger melt
Even some classics need a little twist added to them now and then, and this classic twist is indeed no exception to your next bbq!
Ingredients:
Burger:
2 Italian sausages
2tbsp Cajun seasoning
2tbsp bacon bits
1/2 chopped green onion
1/4cup crispy onions
6 mushroom slices finely diced
2 slices American cheese
Choice of bun or toasted bread
Burger sauce:
1/2 chopped green onion
1tbsp mustard
2tbsp mayo
1tbsp relish
2tsp chili powder
1tbsp ranch dressing
1tbsp franks red hot
Recipe:
1-prep your sauce in advance and save remaining green onion for your burger
2-make your 2 patties with your sausage meat and mixins
3-on a searing hot flatiron, use a burger press lined with parchment paper to “smash” your patties down flat (not too flat or they fall apart) and cook both sides until you get a nice dark-brown crust on both sides, then add your cheese and melt
4-stack your patties onto your bun/bread and add your sauce+additional toppings and plate with your choice of side
5-enjoy!
