Around last week, 25 July 2025, the government of the United Kingdom has put the Online Safety Act law into effect. This means that all websites and services are required to implement robust age verification systems to ensure that users in the UK are above the minimum age (usually 18) before using the website or service. While it's meant to combat exposure of harmful content, including pornography, self-harm, suicide and etc, to kids, the new law wasn't really well-received due to concerns on breaches of users' privacy. The new age verification systems in line with the law would usually be face scans (to estimate user age), ID matches (passport or driver's license), credit cards and so on. In response to the new law, I have created a new pixel artwork. It's about Mad Mew Mew (from Undertale; left) and Scraps (from Dandy's World; right) going to London to spread awareness about the new law to others in the city. As part of the act, Mad Mew Mew and Scraps are standing behind the "Please Verify Your Age" message that covers their torsos, pelvis areas and legs, to give the impressions that they are naked but their private parts are just covered alongside the areas between them. Of course, public indecency is not OK in the UK, so Mad Mew Mew and Scraps were actually wearing clothes. Just that they are barefoot and wearing shoulder dresses.
