Might have been that they'd decided to break into the giant's castle to steal his treasure, so they've gone barefoot to sneak around quietly. They heard the giant coming though so decided they'd better hide and the cake seemed the easiest hiding place, only Bean couldn't resist eating some of the sweets and now looks like Fang's laughter will reveal them.
