I've had this axe for a while and the factory handle finally broke after a missed swing that popped the handle apart down the length of it.
I fixed it one time by wrapping string around the broken area after supergluing it and then applying a layer of superglue around the string. It worked for a good long while until now.
That old handle was destined to fail, but I had it work for as long as it could since I can't really source a good 28 inch long boy's axe handle from the store, nor do I want to be sent one with a poor grain orientation from amazon or what ever.
I had this baseball ball bat lying around that was going to eventually become this or something else and here we are.
It is made from American ash and is a nice straight grain piece of timber that will definitely serve me well.
It's a little weird looking, but it'll totally hold up to cutting large branches and small trees.
