Only real katana is one forged from nickeled iron (steel) made in japan, Folded, tempered and layered over the course of two years, built with all natural materials like rayskin, whalebone and cherry wood :P
That is a katana that maybe is not "stainless" but it can be sharpened and its most sharpest edge is finished using fine hard ricepaper to give it razor edge. And of course it is lot harder than any industrial carbon steel.
Worth the $4000+ it costs to a caucasian brutish tourist. All that fine craftsmanship and love poured into that steel makes it finest instrument of death a civilian can ever posess. Great enough to bring a grown man to tears from respect.
Unless one posesses a sword like that, he is not a sword collector, but a toycollector ;)
