Smiler design bible 2025: Maru and Yohiro

Getting back into the swing of things, starting with remembering how to draw these characters. The current run of Smiler is only about 45 pages long and spans over about 5 years, so needless to say the style is wildly inconsistent, and in places needlessly complex. The script also needed a lot of work, so for my next attempt I'm focusing on boiling down the art style to its bare essentials (inks and flats; emphasis on form, colour, and dynamic contrast), and re-working the script for better pacing and flow.
To say I feel intimidated and kind of inadequate is an understatement, but I'll never get anywhere if I don't at least try.
