Finally, a proper ref sheet for Nyx! ...Which I may or may not have had finished since about April, and just forgot to post here. Oops.
Anyway! Some character notes, since I feel like rambling:
Nyx is my second fursona, and has been around since February of 2024. She also functions as an OC for some fun worldbuilding/story ideas bigandsoft and I play around with, and she is paired up with Juniper. We liked the idea of a modern furry setting with a bit of magic thrown in for spice, and one of my favorite tropes is magic energy being stored in the body the same way as regular energy is - fat.
Nyx started out as a smaller cat, and joined Juniper's company as a secretary. She ended up becoming Juniper's personal assistant, and the two quickly grew close. As Juniper grew into her role as head of the company, she started treating Nyx to more personal lunches...and dinners...and midnight snacks, etc. Nyx wasn't sure how to feel about gaining weight at first, but watching Juniper pack on the pounds made it easier to lean into her own body's changes. Both of them came to realize just how much they liked being soft, and how much they really liked seeing the other soften up.
With some extra meat on her bones, Nyx stated to realize she had a bit of talent for magic. She joined classes to learn how to harness her natural magic and hone her skills. There she met Zephyr and Aleyxi, who both helped teach her about magic use. With their guidance, her curiosity, and a big appetite, Nyx was able to rise through the ranks and earn the title of "goddess" as one of the top mages of the area. While not technically religious, the title does mean that ae helps care for the people around aer, and may receive offerings from those ae helps. Again, more food means more fat, and more fat means more stored energy that can be used as magic, so those offerings can tangibly help an area. A fat goddess is a powerful goddess, and Nyx demonstrates this well! Nyx's magic is tied to the moon, and aer main aspect is luck. She usually has more magic around full moons, and is especially strong during events like eclipses.
Part of Nyx learning to harness her magic meant learning to take on a werepanther form. As a panther, they are taller and larger, and usually sport small feathered wings and a glowing halo. The extra size takes a bit more energy to maintain, and passively radiates magic. This radiating magic can affect people around her - usually helping to calm them down and bring a bit of good luck, although it can also manifest in other ways. She can also be more intentional about pouring magic into someone, although that nearly inevitably results in weight gain. Nyx can also take on a panthertaur form. Taur forms are pretty common among high level mages, since two bellies can store more food, more fat, and more magic. Nyx's tattoo is also linked to her magic. The ink is enchanted to show up through fur, and the magic radiating from her keeps it visible. When she's in small cat form it's usually hidden, although she can reveal it with a little effort.
Nyx loves dressing up, and especially loves jewelry. She almost always wears multiple sets of earrings, and usually has on a few bracelets and a necklace or collar. These can function as compression tools in some cases - if she has way too much magic in her system, compression jewelry can help hide some of the overflow away in hammerspace. Compression jewelry does have its limits though, and Nyx has come close to them on occasion... ;3
Most of her visual design notes are already listed in the ref itself, so I won't rehash them here. I will say that she's posted on Art Fight though, so in the few days that are left this year, feel free to drop an attack! I revenge!
