We did a rap song. Yep. It finally happened.
It's actually about something too. I'm expressing my anger at certain popular music.
shiacoft providing the funk and slap bass as usual :3
EDIT: Updated cause Shia wanted to re-do the bass. Now more bass than ever!
Lyrics:
You Bored?
Yeah when I was I kid I thought it might be cool
To write a melody that made all the girlies drool
Something like a Hey Jude or a sloopy hang on,
or anything that ever crossed the mind of Elton John
But I would, sit there in front of the keys thinkin’
What should I do? Get down on my knees
Should I just roll the dice for a song like DnDs But jeeze!
The notes are like a breeze blowin’ in the trees
No I can’t do that
These things are more than chance
To tell a story you need more than fights and romance
No you can’t do that
If I got somethin’ to say then I’ll
need three things lyrics backing and melody.
Are you Bored yet?
Are you Bored yet?
Have we toured yet?
Are you Bored yet?
Now I got a guitar and a dozen songs or more
the four chords, say it with me now, one five six and four
that we’ve been screaming to for fifty years
They draw crowds to fill stadiums and even draw tears
Gimme a gaga ooh la la to shove in your wallet
you’ll be throwin’ cash in a flash right out of your pocket
your sockets, are weepin’; cryin’ for a turn at the docket
you all set the bar lower and it’s too late to stop it.
No I can’t do that
How can I blame the masses
Tricked by all the labels who handed out rose glasses
No I can’t do that
We put up with the contrite
As it keeps repeating repeating repeating repeating repeating aw
Chorus
Bridge me up Scottie

That's close. I have a few a capella things on here.

Interesting. I actually just started getting into some rap lately, so this comes at a good time. I caught a few things that may or may not be references to something, besides the obvious ones I mean. I'm kind of ashamed to say it, but I'm actually a little confused as to what exactly the point is you were trying to get across in this. Good nonetheless.
Both verses might have seperate unrelated meanings, or you can thin of them as one continuous thought. Different meanings depending on which way you look at it. I'd love to know what references you think you may have caught, especially if they're ones I didn't mean to make :3
Thank you for listening ^^

Hmm... maybe I'm just thinking about it too much. lol I guess the fact that the song makes me think is a good thing though. At first I thought it was just a shot at modern pop music, because of the obvious Lady GaGa reference and the "rose glasses" line seemed like a jab at how a lot of pop stars become famous regardless of talent, thus tricking the "masses" into thinking they're something they're not. After thinking about it more I got confused. When you say "Now I got a guitar and a dozen songs or more - the four chords, say it with me now, one five six and four - that we’ve been screaming to for fifty years" I thought it might have something to do with music stagnating, and artists not willing to try new things, just rehashing old ideas. Similarly, I thought the first verse might have been you talking about how some artists simply try to copy the success of earlier bands. Also, "breeze blowin' in the trees" made me think of "Blowin' in the Wind", and I know some people think Dylan's stuff is a lot of meaningless lyrics to simple guitar chords.
Probably completely off, but it's what my brain came up with. I tend to over think things.

Everything you said was spot on (except for the Dylan thing. I like him X3). The "four chords" thing is a music theory reference, but you got the meaning. In any particular key the chords are labeled with numbers depending on which scale degree is the root of said chord. 1 5 6 and 4, or as would be written in theory, I V vi and IV are friggin EVERYTHING on the radio. Sometimes they're in a different order, but those chords are extremely prevalent in pop music. This is the reason that a dozen of the current top 40 songs sound just like "Dynomite" while the rest sound like "firework". This has been going on for nearly fifty years but has been getting worse in my opinion.
I LOVE when people think about the music. thank you!

Wow, I really wasn't expecting to be right about that. Now I feel special. :) I feel I should mention that I am not one of the people that thinks that about Dylan, I like him too. I should also mention that I dislike both songs you mentioned, however right before I listened to this I was listening to "Bad Romance"... *looks away in shame and searches iTunes library for some progressive rock*
Anyways, I always try to think about the music. It's kind of hard not to with songs like yours.

Great Job! I agree, I've been so bored with all the music on the radio since 2004, I don't even listen to anything on the mainstream anymore. I want more experimental things, or just something that sounds different.
And Hip Hop is my avenue, so you know I never listen to the radio (only underground radio)
All I see is shirtless tattoed rappers rhyming about the same things, money, cars, women etc, and all I think is, "Man, people don't know that there are tons of Hip Hop artists out there actually doing creative positive things."
You really have to dig for substance these days.

Everything I listen to is old. Very occasionally I'll find something I like that's post 2000. I like Mumford and Sons though. That feeds into my folk side.
I'm glad you like it.
Any time I hear top 40 stuff today I try and think of what music this generation is leaving behind. Everyone popular is forgotten about in a few months. One song that lasts for a week.
Who's gonna care about "my humps" in a serious capacity in 5 years. 10. 40.

Yeah. If the music didn't make money, it wouldn't get made. People get what they ask for and it's drivel.
Music schools... well I think they teach what they always have. Classical.
The only form of "Classical" music still making money is film scores so you can see how that happened. I'm looking into a master's in "Commercial music" which is somgwriting, tech, music business, and performance all together.
Music theater almost sorta bridges the gap, but there's a sense of snobbery and inbreeding of ideas that has made that it's own floating island of egos and old ideas
Good music will always be out there though. Even if it's in the past X3

Yet again another fine muscial masterpiece, and i really connected with these lyrics as well. It seems to not only be music but a lot of stuff that keeps on doing the same things repeatedly. A number of years back there was that depression or whatever so looks like we're still trying to just get rich, and both music and games, both of which are finally being realised for their artistic potentially, are also starting to be swamped by the same stuff over and over again. It all boils down to one problem, people trying to take the easy way outta things, why produce music with 4 simple chords? cause it's easy, and so far is making money. Why bother truly making something amazing, when you can make something mediocore faster to get quick money?...Unfortunately, it seems we're caring less and less about the answer to these questions. But you my friend, are still a light in the dark and I hope that you shall shine the brightest, great work.
There are a lot of independant artists doing good work. If anything, I'm hoping this stagnation in creativity will lead to soe revolution in the underground. People who wouldn't ordinarily write spurred into action by the need to make something better than what they hear.
thank you ^^

Wow!
That was the coolest combination of what you usually sing (like the genre), and a rap song!
Seriously, I had fun listening to it, so you must of just had a blast making it!
What gave you the idea to do something like this?
Oh ya, one more thing... fav for you!
'We're all animals in the end',

I was originally going to write something where the vocal melody was all the same note.
I was frustrated because I can't write sweeping, inspireing melodies. Chords are fine, words okay, but nothing tear jerking when it comes to melody.
then I kept writing lyrics and thought it would sound good as a rap... thing
Glad you liked it ^^
