Once upon a misty morning dawn one Wise Man tended his garden quietly.
Beneath him the soil felt him peacefully home.
The Wise Man looked solemnly bored.
In his hearth was a Fool knocked in without doubt.
The Fool announced to the Wise Man this house was his.
Scratching his chin, the Wise Man asked the Fool why.
“A wise man like you deserves a nicer place” said the Fool.
Shaking his head the Wise man asked the Fool to please leave.
The Fool refused.
The Wise Man opened his door and said he cared not for riches.
The Fool only laughed and raged.
There was no quiet.
In his wrath the Wise Man insisted the Fool was a poor liar.
The Fool shrugged with coins flowing out his sleeves.
The Wise Man ignored his parlor tricks.
“See my horde of riches if you don’t believe me” said the Fool.
The Wise Man frowned and looked beneath his feet.
He was trapped in a nightmare.
Filthy coins hurt his feet.
Four walls jailed him.
His garden gone.
The Fool sat atop this prison.
For the Wise Man understood;
The illusion of everyday life ended.
