Hench-Gryph - Issue #2: Hench-Off (3/8) - Alt
(The two largest of lackeys quickly get together for lunch, but planning to save their bosses might need a second course...)
“The only way stop an outright *battle* between those two is if we agree to duke it out over something...”
“It won't be so bad if we can make it a contest about something we both enjoy doing, but what do we have in common?”
“...hey, do you want dessert?”
“Yeah, I could eat.”
Maks and Royce were more like comrades than enemies, relating very well to eachother’s struggles with their overbearing bosses - but this newest kerfuffle seemed like it’d complicate things terribly. While massaging their overstuffed stomaches, an idea took shape between the well-fed gryphons… Maybe they wouldn’t need to fight after all… Maybe their bosses would feel satisfied with a different kind of competition between their minions…

I’m most pleased to present the follow-up sequence to a delightful commission from last year for my ever-wonderful friend Nickel-Cat_Engine, starring his returning Hench-Gryph and accompanying villainous master, Dr. Klumpfnacht, as well as a new Hench-Gryph on the block, the equally muscular (and equally fattenable) Royce, sidekick to the heroic Fantastic Mighty Fox! The duo’s bosses are feuding something fierce, a feud which can only be resolved with a good ol’ fashioned hench-off… But can our dutiful henchgryphs survive the belt-busting brawl to come? And who will come out on top - and who’ll be blobbed at the bottom? Stay tuned to find out…!
As with the previous sequence, I absolutely adored this idea and had a splendid time working on it! The cel-shading was fun as always, as were all the silly background gags and comicy things that I included throughout. Royce and Maks pair wonderfully together both personality wise and design-wise, especially as their appetites begin to outpace their muscles… I truly hope you all enjoy this sequence, and a tremendous thank you to Nickel-Cat_Engine for commissioning me on this!
