this is the crucible lift as it extends into the firebox
the crucible is cut from the bottom of an oxygen cylinder
currently, we use unlined steel (not exactly a good material for a crucible)
the bail allows free rotation of the crucible on its upper clevis
the clevis has holes for a bar to be passed through
the pin can then be pulled out and the crucible moved by two people if necessary.
normally, pouring is done with the crucible still under the support of the lift.

liquid capacity of the crucible is about one gallon.
