this is the forge/foundry
this was constructed from a ~250k-300kBtuH capacity coal furnace
(originally with an automatic stoker)

the firebox was cut down, brick and refractory bed rebuilt
the windbox was set in concrete and brick so that it can be hoisted and moved without cracking the refractory
the motor drives a screw-drive hoist mechanism which is used to lift and manipulate the crucible
the motor is controlled by operating a gang-switch via bicycle brake cables
limit switches control the maximum/minimum extension of the screw
the blower speed is controlled by the switch on top of the handi-box.
