As I post this, I'm currently in the middle of bashing out rough story notes for SPCM#7, and without giving too much away, space freighters play a significant role in the story I have in mind. Like so many freighter pilots, the ones in the SPCM universe are essentially space truckers, so my research has inevitably led me down various rabbit-holes of that ilk. The most relevant to this picture is CB radios, and the slang associated with them. While SPCM has its fair share of space truckers, I thought this would be a good opportunity to bring back Tawny & Goldie, my two generic starship crew members. The girls seem to have gone up in the world, as both are now piloting their own freighters - Goldie's is a scruffy independent rig, while Tawny's seems to be a rather sterile corporate machine.


Incidentally, for those unfamiliar with CB slang, this conversation roughly translates as follows:
Do you have your ears on? - Are you tuned in to this particular CB channel?
Approaching your front door - My vessel is in front of yours, and will soon be passing from the opposite direction.
Go-go juice - Fuel.
Mud ball - A doughnut, usually accompanied by coffee.
Good Buddy - Used to be the traditional polite greeting from one CBer to another. Would most likely get you laughed off the channel if you tried to use it now.
